From Heartbreak to Hustle: The Story Behind Double Bar S

In March 2022, my world shattered. I lost my oldest brother, Benjamin, to suicide—and the grief swallowed me whole. I stopped recognizing myself. I was broken, quiet, and heavier in more ways than one. Until one day, I walked into a Western store I’d always loved—and left feeling invisible. No welcome, no options for my size, and no spark of joy.

That moment lit a fire in me. I decided no woman should ever feel like that—overlooked, unwelcome, or unworthy.

So I built something from the ground up. I designed jeans that fit, launched a small collection from my living room, and started showing up—online, at pop-ups, and wherever I could make women feel seen. What started as a plus-size Western fashion line has now grown into something bigger: a brand that celebrates grit, style, and community.

In March 2023, Double Bar S Western Wear was born. It’s dedicated to my brother Benjamin and to Shawn Colwell, my son’s best friend, who we also lost too soon. This brand carries their names in every thread and every package we send.

Double Bar S isn’t just about clothes. It’s a place where people feel like they matter. Where real bodies are beautiful. Where heartbreak can turn into hope. And where you’re always greeted like family.
